instances of indian girl completing Xth (ICSE board) come to US (in New York city) for studtying XI
I wish to relocate in the US for 2 years from India. My daughter is completing her X th standard examination from ICSE board, Delhi this March. Can she get admission to some school in New York city (queens area) for completing her remaining 2 years of studies leading to completion of schooling in 12th grade in the field of commerce (Accounting, Management, HR etc.)?
How do I locate good school for her?
Can she get adjusted to the different culture at such an age?
I wil be on L1 visa status and with this visa status, can my daughter get admission in a Public school? She will have a dependant visa.
are there instances of other girls from India who have come to New York after completing their tenth grade and studied to get the high school graduation (as it is called in the US) for 12th grade?
She wishes to study commercial subjects like Accounting, HR, management etc.
What is the process I can use to take this forward i.e.
The answer to the question can she go to a public school is yes. However, to the program she is looking for in Queens, New York I am not sure and you should do a websearch of community colleges I think in Queens to find out. I am not sure if such an accounting program as it sounds your daughter is in exists in an US high school.

Moving Back to the Good Old US of A-PLEASE ONLY NATIVES AND X RESIDENTS REPLY?
Hello good Ladies and Gents,
I am planning to move back to the states in one of the following cities. I have lived most all my life in FRIGID and DULL Michigan. My criteria is lindicated below the list of cities. I ask you to advise me on any of the following cities that Imay appeal to me. Feel free to mention any city that belongs on this list. Please only sugestions meeting ALL my criteria. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
Seattle
Las Vegas(Away from the strip-Gambling center)
Henderson or Reno Nevada
Portland Oregon,
Birmingham Alabama
Sacramento,
San Francisco
Miami
I want the following criteria:
-Good economy for new small business
-Lots of shops and activities
-Not less than 40 dg low avg in the winter
-Acceptable environment to raise kids
-Relitivly safe
-Clean and no boarded up houses
Personally, I would choose Seattle out of those choices ... I love Portland and the area, but I think that Seattle would have more to offer for a new small business. You would want to research which areas of the city/suburbs were best for kids/schools. I am only familiar with the western cities you listed.
As far as the california cities ... I like visiting, but, well, having had adult children living in both, just prefer the northwest. Nevada has many of the same downfalls as California.
What's the typical size of an oak-tag board?
You see, I'm starting this certain project and my teacher asked us to do it on oak-tag board. The problem is that I went to pharmacies and staples and they didn't have. Then I was told by a staples employee that a regular poster board is pretty much the same thing. The poster boards I bought were 22 in. X 28 in. I'm asking what is the typical size of an oak-tag so I'll be able to make the project in the correct size.
I've never heard of an oak-tag board so I did a "search".
Some are 9x12 and others are 12x18.
I'm guessing the salesperson had no idea what he/she were talking about.....as usual!!!!
