PMP Certification 3rd edition or 4th?
Guys,
I would like to start on getting PMP (project management professional) Certified by the end of the year. I haven't started studying yet, but was wondering if I study the 3rd edition now (only one available right now - 4th will be ready late in the year), will I be able to take the test based on the 3rd edition? You know what I mean?

whats the best study guide besides the PMBOK?
Yes, you will be able to use the 3rd edition. PMI usually has a grace period of about a year before they cut in the new test for the later edition.
The test is about $550. It is more expensive if you are not a PMI member.
You definitely need another guide besides the PMBOK. Kim Heldman's book is good (I used that). Rita Mulcahy's book is also highly rated. You can find them both on Amazon.
I would strongly suggest you go and find your local PMI chapter and see what they offer as far as PMP training. A lot of chapters have a free meeting where they talk about PMP.
