Please help with the poem Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley? What does the insciprtion on the pedestal mean? What does it tell us about Ozymandias?
"my name is Ozymandias, king of kings, look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
This indicates the fall of Ozymandias and how selfishness caused him to fall and also his empire to fall along with him.
the line "king of kings" shows his ego and selfishness and "look on my works" there is nothing there anymore which also indicates the fall of his empire
p.s ozymandias is the greek name for ramses 2nd (egyption pharoh)
hope ive helped
What song would go well with reading the poem Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley? @qaa_question
Cool poem. I like that Pink Floyd recommendation. Another option might be Dust in the Wind by Kansas.
Can you help me with poetry please? (Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley)? I need to do an axplication of the poem Ozymandias, but I am not sure i understand what the middle section of the poem is meaning. ( Lines 5-8) Especially the line about the hand that mocked them and the heart thata fed...
Can anyone help me?
the passions (seen in the statue's facial expression) survived (outlasted) both the sculptor (the hand that mocked them), and Ozymandias (the heart that fed them).
