Is this a better representation of the Olympic Medal Count?
I've weighted the Olympic Medal Count to give us a better idea of the overall standings. Gold gets 3 points, Silver - 2 Points and Bronze 1 Point. I think this should be considered into implementation, but I wonder if it will because we wouldn't want to lose our Rose Colored Glasses...

How many athletes go into an event shooting for a bronze? Show of hands?
Good work. Seriously.
But one major flaw. Not all gold medals are created equal. Michael Phelps has 8 gold medals, whereas the U.S. basketball team, through all of their hard work, can only win 1. The U.S. women's sabre individuals won 3 medals, 1 of each kind, but Ukraine women's sabre team only won 1 gold medal.
Point is, any system is systematically flawed, which is why there is no real way to determine the "best country" by medal count. The point of the Olympics is to spread goodwill among countries, not to count medals.
Again though, good work on the data.
Olympic Medal Count?
Is the medal count down supposed to be in Gold or total, because i checked CBC(Canada), and along with other countries such as Britain and Japan, and all their medal tables are by gold, and only the American Media's medal table is by total... As another Canadian commented on CBC "The americans just can't get over the fact that they're losing, those ignorant babies".. What do you think?

You guys make great sense, I agree that by succeeding in total medals, your country as a whole seem strong, but then again, 1000 silvers doesn't make up a gold
The IOC uses the "By Gold First" method and always has.
