what is the grade of oil used in K&N FILTERS which are used in bikes.?
after cleaning the K&N FILTERS which is used in bikes , what is the grade of oil used in it or what is the viscocity of the K&N oil used in the K&N FILTERS which are used in bikes.
K & N sells colored oil in a spray can for their filters. I only recommend using that. My HD requires no oil at all on the filter but if you live in the dust bowl, I say... oil it... just to stop that dust from getting in.
How often do you need to oil K&N air filters?
Just got a bike that has one of the K&N air filters that needs to be oiled. How often do they need to be oiled and what's the best method for cleaning them before oiling?
I do mine as a matter of maintenance at around 3k.
You can use K&N's kit or simple green and a water rinse from the inside out to clean it ,shake it dry and let it air dry .
K&N spray oil can be purchased at most auto parts stores and I would not suggest using anything but that to oil it.
I know they are both excellent OIL filters but what is a better WIX or K&N oil filters?

Wix is a great filter so is Hastings. The K&N is as good but no better and priced higher. I have cut them open and the internals are bout the same. If you want a great filter at a great price look for a Federated or Auto Pride dealer they have Hastings filters in their private boxes for 3 bucks. And yes they are real Hastings Filters, for that matter the NAPA Gold filter is a WIX, just avoid the silveline filters from NAPA as they arent near as good
