I've tried to watch the cnn "black in america" special but I just can't get into it, is an
it and what's making you pay attention to it? I really want to watch it but just can't seem to pay attention to it, any tips on how I can gain an interest in it?

I don't think anybody can give you tips on how to become interested in something. You're either interested or you're not. I watched the first part tonight and I thought it was very insightful BECAUSE they talked to a wide range of black people. Also if you see a topic/ situation they discussed that you can relate to, more than likely it will catch your interest. *Watch the one tomorrow*

What Do Y'all Think About the Documentary Soledad O'Brien Covered on CNN: Black in America?
@qaa_question

I think the special did not do a good job of portraying all black people. They told one side. They didn't talk about successful black people and how they surpassed racism and opposition to get to where they are. I thought the special could have been more uplifting. And to Laniki - or whatever your name is -- everyone realizes that other people went through struggles as well. The thing about the African American struggle is that they do not have any access to their history. As a black woman, I do not know what part of Africa my ancestors came from, so I am out of touch with my family history. No other race has that issue. Sometimes you need to think deeper about an issue before you go grouping everyone together.
